
16 Lucy MacGillis (nata a Pittsfield, MA Stati Uniti nel 1977) dipinge in Italia da quindici anni. E cresciuta nei Berkshires nel Massachusetts e ha studiato il disegno alla scuola locale IS183 mentre frequentava Pittsfield High School. MacGillis ha continuato di studiare la pittura alla Università di Pennsylvania con John Moore e con Nicolas Carone alla International School of Art in Italia. Qui ha anche potuto studiare con i maestri Ruggero Savinio, Jake Berthot, John Lees eYing Li. Dopo la laurea della Università di Pennsylvania, ha ricevuto una borsa di studio per dipingere in Italia. In Umbria ha iniziato a creare una serie di paesaggi, interni e nature morte che ha esposto alla Hoadley Gallery a Lenox , alla Galleria Ca’d’Oro a Roma e ad Axelle a NewYork. Insieme alla propria pittura, insegna in Italia, Germania,Austria e negli Stati Uniti in brevi work- shop usando le techniche tradizionale Italiane con colori terra. Vive con suo figlio Vito e suo compagno in un vecchio casale da lei restaurata a Fratta Todina. Pittsfield, MA U.S.A. 1977) has been painting and drawing in Italy for 15 years.She grew up in the Berkshires in Massachusetts and studied figure drawing at the IS183 while she attended Pittsfield High School. MacGillis then studied painting at the University of Pennsylvania with John Moore and with Nicolas Carone at the former International School of Art in Italy. Here she also studied with Ruggero Savinio, Jake Berthot, John Lees andYing Li. Upon graduating from the University of Pennsyl- vania, she received a post-graduate grant to paint in Italy.There she began to create a series of land- scape, interior and still-life paintings which she exhibited at the Hoadley Gallery in Lenox and at the Galleria Ca'd'Oro in Rome and Axelle in NewYork City. She teaches locals to paint their own landscape in Montecastello and teaches annual seminars in traditional Italian painting with earth colors at the Sommerakademie di Hohenaschau in Germany at the Kunstfabrik inVienna and privately in Italy.
